My first

Hair Cut!!!

Getting ready for Miss Rhonda - (her kids go to my mom's school!)

We both had to get ready...and thankfully my cape had dogs on it. Phew. It made the situation soo much better!

About to get the product in my hair.

All of a sudden, not so happy! hehe.

Not that bad.

We had strict orders to keep it long from Dad who was working. My mom took the day off to spend with my family. My GJ and PK were in charge ;) of the camera and it died. We did get it on the video camera but it takes way way way too long to upload. So, there is no final picture. sigh. You will be happy to know that I got a reward for my good behavior - Miss Rhonda gave me a sucker - blue in fact- and my mom let me suck on it! I know..shocker. Actually, Daddy was totally surprised when he saw the video. She said that tt was fine because it was a very special occasion but it was so gooey and sticky that I won't have one again for awhile.

So here's a preview of the party and the haircut. Still long, just not scraggly. and my dog card from my great gma in California.

2.26.09

I can't believe it's been a year!!! Reece has been celebrating his first b-day for a few days now, so I am going to do a couple of posts. Here's how he spent his BIRTHday.

Waking up - showing me his "dogs." Did you know they go "hoo - hoo?"
If you ask Reece they do!
Waking up as Momma gets ready for work. So happy to be one!

Waiting for our table at .........HOUSTON'S. Yes.
My parents said it was only fitting if we took him their for his 1st birthday.

At our favorite place, eating the best thing - spinach dip!

Rinsing off the spinach dip instead of drinking.

A frequent eating style these days- the stuff.

Looking at his plate deciding if he wants more.

Chicken Tenders and Spinach/Artichoke dip...yummo!

My parents and brother and his girlfriend flew in town for the big occasion. Reece spent his day at school - just like all most big boys! We went to dinner and decided that Houston's is so consistent and delicious. Reece loved the chicken tenders and spinach dip side. Friday was another big day getting ready for my party on Saturday. Stay tuned...I may look a little different the next time you see me!

What has RMK been up to these days?!

READING!!

Every night after dinner, Reece crawls to his book basket and sits and "reads" them all by himself for about 10 minutes. Then he brings one to us to read to him. He knows to start at the left side and then go to the right, turns the page, and say "DOG" to every dog he can find.

EATING DIRT

this comes with the territory, I guess, when you have 2 big dogs who love to run around outside. Dirt eventually ends up somewhere inside our house!

BATHTIME!!

the little "lady" hair do prior to bath...

complete with a fully soggy diaper

all clean!

happy baby and a happy mommy!(in need of eye de-wrinkle cream! omgosh)

blueberry balentines!

A Valentine's blueberry pancake morning.
We made buckwheat blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs (yolk for Reece), and coffee. Our future left handed pitcher/quarterback or tight end ate a full little boy sized meal. 1 whole banana, 2.5 buckwheat pancakes, and a scrambled egg yolk, and a cup of water.
you can't see his hand, but he is showing Daddy his pancake!
Quite the eater

"More - right here!"

I realize that I just recounted his entire meal for you. I do this daily for Monty - about myself. I had oatmeal for breakfast, 1/2 chicken breast and lettuce and an apple for lunch, etc. I don't know why but I for some reason think he might be interested! :) he's not really.
Happy Valentine's and I hope you all tell someone you love them!

here they are...

All recognizible features have been cropped out - the kid's faces etc. However, this is how freaking crazy/brave 6th graders are...both boys and girls. They are still in my room until Tuesday. I have promised to touch one before they leave my class. ugh. Everyday I am getting better; today, I reached my hand into the terrarium with a smaller plastic cup to scoop them up. Monday, the students had to do it. Yesterday, I used a 1/2 liter container. Enjoy!

oh the dreaded day

Monday: Science 8:00-9:00 Observe Cockaroaches - locate structures and determine their functions. Exoskeleton - proctect the roach from raid?!?!?

I had to create a home for my ginormous cockaroaches on Friday. I called in reinforcements to help b/c they were crawling and making a crap load of noise in their tiny plastic margarine like container and I was seriously freaking out. Oh my gosh...they are huge and creepy. The biggest one is about 4 inches long and at least an inch wide. The kids weren't at school on Friday. They will be tomorrow when we have "observe"them---a.k.a let them crawl all over the desks and PRAY that the kids can catch them in their plastic cups. They are in paper b/c that's how they came to me and there was no way that I was going to dig them out of the paper.

Snails & 6th grade science

Okay, so we have had class snails for the past 2 weeks. They stink, they poop, they eat carrots and lettuce and chalk. And depending on what they choose to eat, their poop matches the color of the food. We are finished with our snail unit - finally and are beginning our hissing cocharoach unit- Monday. They will be coming straight from Madagascar. Well, they are Madagascar Cocharoaches...they come from the RISD science center. ANYWAYS.... I have had interesting conversations with my class this past week in regards to our snails.
1. Did you know that snails are both she/he's. 6th graders find this VERY strange and started out calling them "it's" until they learned that they were he/she's. AND then....we read our textbook which gave the real vocab word for a he/she. Anybody ever write this word on a triple venn diagram on the overhead....

HERMAPHRODITE?!?!?! o...m....g. THANK GOODNESS that they are just immature enough not to know what this is.

2. ? - Mrs. K, how do snails' make babies? You have your textbook, let's research it.... they look it up and write it down. A few days go by and we are discussing why we put chalk in their classroom habitat, and I call on one student who says...
"they eat chalk to make their calcium love darts." THis is true and this is how they make babies. They make calcium love darts. calcium love darts. let me say it again. calcium love darts.
sigh. Having this discussion with hormonal girls and hormone driven boys is SOOO not what I signed up for.
Three things I learned about myself and snails.
1. I will never again eat escargot and 2. I will never pour salt all over them like i did when I was little. and 3. Snails are creepy.
