The arboretum is my favorite place to visit during the fall. I love the pumpkins and the beautiful rainbow of colors in mums. It was different going on a weekend with my hubby - I am much more comfortable with 50 students running aroud with low parental supervision! :) SOOO anyway, enjoy a peek at the Kennedy Family Fall Fun DaY!

California
Reece and Papa
We are back from a great trip to California honoring my late grandpa. Papa Howard was a terrific man and great papa. Even with all of my family together for 4 days, we didn't ever get a group shot. I guess it was not the right time, even though we had a awesome time celebrating his life.
Reece and Dad playing with the sugar holder at Houston's - hey we were with my parents, it's something we do :)
Uncle Brian and his girlfriend, Amy
Cous-aunt Jule and Reece hanging outside - it get's chilly at night!
so sleepy - not quite adjusted to the time change!

Finally...
A smile! In between his fits of tears today because of pesky teeth numbers 7 & 8, we were able to catch a glimpse of our favorite little smile. This was surprising because recently every picture we take we get a bored look of distaste. We kind of feel like the family on the cruise that is in search of the teenage daughter's smile -- it's there for a second, and then gone. :) Hoping tomorrow they are through the skin and we will have 4 top and 4 bottom teefs(as we like to call them.)Monday, October 6, 2008
Houston's
You know my parents have been in town if we have been to Houston's one time. You definitely know they(mostly my mom) have come in town if we have had 2 meals back to back at Houston's. She and I ate there seriously 4 times in the week before Reece was born! We went to the Addison location last night after my parents landed from LA. They were making a long stopover on their way to Austin for business. It was as it always is, delicious. Seriously, everything on the menu is a classic. Before Monty and I were married, we ate there once a week at the bar. The bartender even knew us by name and would visit with us each and everytime we went.
Anyways... Reece was taking his second nap today at noon and mom and I were at, where else, the mecca... Super Target. Buying diapers and such and she mentioned she wanted something yummy and tasty for lunch, like Houston's. It's not that they don't have one in Pasadena, it's just that perfect for a lunch or dinner meal. So we just had to convince dad. I told him that mom was craving the sashimi salad so we had to go. In actuality, it was me that was craving the salad. We went to the Preston Center location today since we were headed to Northpark to babystyle (which closed btw).
If you are wondering why I was not explaining groundwater and watersheds and porosity of rocks today was due to the glorious day of the Fair. I thought all metroplex districts received the much awaited Fair Day, but found out that only in Dallas County schools did the teacher receive a free fair ticket AND the day off. Only in Texas.
We had a great short visit with GJ and PK(my mom wants them to go by Lolli and Pop - lollipop--my dad refuses even though it's pretty funny!) We had grandiose plans to see the pumpkins at the Arboretum today but woke up to pouring down rain and our plans soon turned to shopping and lunch. Tonight for dinner we made fresh dunguness crab and shrimp for dinner. It was SOO yummy and super easy. I think Monty and I will be making it more often. We even got a sweet All-Clad big sautee pan out of the deal. Mom thought my pans were too small. :)

Thanks Mom and Dad (lolli-pop/GJ & PK) for a great visit. We wish we could see you more often! Here's to seeing you in Maui in 8 weeks!!!

Some photos from lunch... Monty is mia(at work.) Reece is not a fan of the blinking flash - hence the sad face.
