Zoo

Reece's first trip to the zoo. This has been Monty's desire since last April, when the little guy was like 7 weeks old. Can we take him to the zoo?? Is he ready to go to the zoo?? No, honey, he can't hold up his head yet...therefore, looking at animals is near impossible. Anyway... this Spring Break, I deamed him Zoo ready. He loves his animals and calls all of them "dog" so I figured we could at least try. Monty took the day off of work and we headed over to Fort Worth with every other spring breaker. It was crowded...similarly to the food alley at the Fair - you know the one next to the bird house just past the big stage. SO...it was a little difficult with the BOB to manuever but Reece loved it. I think Monty enjoyed it the most, then Reece, and then me. The best part of the day was waffle cone of delish ice cream. Thank goodness we brought our own food b/c the wait for anything was insane. The ice cream palor wait felt like 20 minutes. Probably was more like 10 but with a toddler...it seemed longer. It was a great day for an outdoor activity and I forsee many more trips to the zoo. Just not on spring break.

So sweet. An elephant snuggling.

smiling/excited -- I think. or just talking.
looking at the zebras.

so funny...not sure what he was looking at...probably the gross pigeons.

Poll: Bottles

I need your help. My doctor said no more bottles for Reece but that is just not happening. Please tell me your experiences with switching from bottles to sippy cups only and the amount of liquid your kiddo drinks now. I am confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Spring Break fun with Reece

Spring Break Fun!!

We are so lucky to have great spring weather this week. I am loving being at home with Reece and am so excited for the summer. I went back to my Child Development background- BSFCS from BU! :) and tried to plan some activities that would make our days more structured. Anyway... it's a long-ish post but...and out of order...sorry.

Outside play on St. Patricks Day

Sponge squeezing - working the grasping skills. Plus it's wet and he loved it!

A must for a fair child on sunny days! The beginning
On a walk - to the grocery store. We were multi-tasking!
After the walk

Wednessday's activity that lasted a very short time. Shapes in the shaving cream. We are headed to the park this afternoon!

Waffles with apple and almond butter dip.

Tomato sauce has made eating anything so much fun. He loves it! obviously.

Happy boy after pasta!

Climbing at the Little Gym last Saturday.
Practicing lineman drills in the waiting room instead of playing with the other kids. He loves pushing chairs, highchairs, anything...

sweet boy.

More to come as the week carries on!

1st year check up

Resting after his 2 shots
Reece is doing great and had fun at Dr. P's until the mean nurse came in to give him his shots. Seriously, why can't they have the shot nurse be nice and friendly rather than mean and crotchety?! He screamed and stopped breathing for a few seconds which, is normal but since we are slowly vaccinating, he hasn't had them in a few months but I am fairly certain that they will never get easier...his dad is slightly fearful of needles (ask him the next time you see him) so I hope that Reece does not pick up on that! The munchkin is still sleeping - 3 hours after I put him down. I did check to make sure he was breathing b/c he's out like a light.
Dr. P said he's a lean baby weighing in at 22 lbs 9 oz. which is just in the 50th%ile. He has been so active recently and doesn't like to sit and chill, to which the dr. said that I was going to have my hands full with a very busy child. yes, I know.
Height - 31.5 inches (93%)
Head - 19 inches (92%)
that's all for the yearly check-up! Oh, I had no idea that at 1 year they just stop bottles. I am rather confused why I have never read this anywhere. Not a big deal b/c he hardly drinks that much from them anyways but --- still. :) Gettin' so big!

Par-tay! Reece is One....

Birthday boy in his birthday present from Mom and Dad.

Here are a few pictures from Reece's party. He had a blast and was going going going and then gone at 6:45. Having never had "sugar" before, except for evaporated cane juice( which I know is organic sugar), I was curious to see his reaction to cake. He tasted with a little pinch of frosting, and then another, and then he shoved it in his mouth by the fistfuls. He was not happy when I wouldn't give him any more later on in the day either. Grunted, pointed and cried when I said "all done."

We are awaiting our 1st year check up. I had no idea that a check-up required weeks/months of advanced notice - but he could get in tomorrow if he was sick with anything. sigh. We go over Spring Break so you can all wait on the edge of your seats for his stats! His "vocabulary" is increasing: he now will say Dada, dog, Santa, Hi, all-done (ahlduh) with the sign, and the new word, hot (hod).

Oh the excitement!

Our families

My 2 angels.

Fistfuls of frosting

The good stuff ---his Mexican food lunch.

Monty with Reece and his bud, Jackson

In his birthday "crown."

Got to go lesson plan... battery pack has 50 minutes left and my power cord is in my classroom!

My first

Hair Cut!!!

Getting ready for Miss Rhonda - (her kids go to my mom's school!)

We both had to get ready...and thankfully my cape had dogs on it. Phew. It made the situation soo much better!

About to get the product in my hair.

All of a sudden, not so happy! hehe.

Not that bad.

We had strict orders to keep it long from Dad who was working. My mom took the day off to spend with my family. My GJ and PK were in charge ;) of the camera and it died. We did get it on the video camera but it takes way way way too long to upload. So, there is no final picture. sigh. You will be happy to know that I got a reward for my good behavior - Miss Rhonda gave me a sucker - blue in fact- and my mom let me suck on it! I know..shocker. Actually, Daddy was totally surprised when he saw the video. She said that tt was fine because it was a very special occasion but it was so gooey and sticky that I won't have one again for awhile.

So here's a preview of the party and the haircut. Still long, just not scraggly. and my dog card from my great gma in California.
