"Mommy and Me"

With Daddy's back hurting really badly, I have gotten REALLY used to Mommy and Me time. I love every minute with her and when she leaves, I get upset. The kind of upset that involves throwing myself on the floor, banging on the door, crying upset. But after about 20-30 minutes, I am good. I also bought my fave new toy at Target. Its' a huge bouncy blue ball that I love. I can kick it or roll it or bounce it. It's so much fun. Here are some pics of our special time together.

ps...I have learned to climb! Look at where Mommy and Daddy found me the other day?!? Don't I look so proud of myself...and thenlike I might be in trouble?!?

Easter 2009

Easter 2009
The weather was cool and overcast. My sweet husband was feeling crummy with the beginning of back pain. We took advantage of the low-key mood and relaxed. We made it to church for service and then headed to Monty's mom for a traditional lunch and Easter baskets. I was off my game with the picture taking so this is as good as it gets! When we got home and the weather warmed up a little, R and I spent some time outside playing -- his favorite thing to do these days.

Trying to get away from Duffy and get his basket.

looking at all of the things he can't touch.

self portrait. proof that we made it to church- joyland tag!

nothing much...

Life has been busy. Last week I stayed home from school 3 days! 1 day I was sick but the other two my Auntie Jenny (my momma's bestie from CA) stayed with me and played while mom and dad were at work. She was driving across the country and brought me my rocking chair that was at GJ and PK's house. My great papa had it made for me. These are a few of the pictures from our two days together.
Thanks Aunt J for loving me ,....and my mom and dad. Love Reecers.

Cutting teeth and playing and being so super handsome!

self portrait to let mom and dad know what we were doing - see Layla? she's my buddy.

Zoo

Reece's first trip to the zoo. This has been Monty's desire since last April, when the little guy was like 7 weeks old. Can we take him to the zoo?? Is he ready to go to the zoo?? No, honey, he can't hold up his head yet...therefore, looking at animals is near impossible. Anyway... this Spring Break, I deamed him Zoo ready. He loves his animals and calls all of them "dog" so I figured we could at least try. Monty took the day off of work and we headed over to Fort Worth with every other spring breaker. It was crowded...similarly to the food alley at the Fair - you know the one next to the bird house just past the big stage. SO...it was a little difficult with the BOB to manuever but Reece loved it. I think Monty enjoyed it the most, then Reece, and then me. The best part of the day was waffle cone of delish ice cream. Thank goodness we brought our own food b/c the wait for anything was insane. The ice cream palor wait felt like 20 minutes. Probably was more like 10 but with a toddler...it seemed longer. It was a great day for an outdoor activity and I forsee many more trips to the zoo. Just not on spring break.

So sweet. An elephant snuggling.

smiling/excited -- I think. or just talking.
looking at the zebras.

so funny...not sure what he was looking at...probably the gross pigeons.

Poll: Bottles

I need your help. My doctor said no more bottles for Reece but that is just not happening. Please tell me your experiences with switching from bottles to sippy cups only and the amount of liquid your kiddo drinks now. I am confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Spring Break fun with Reece

Spring Break Fun!!

We are so lucky to have great spring weather this week. I am loving being at home with Reece and am so excited for the summer. I went back to my Child Development background- BSFCS from BU! :) and tried to plan some activities that would make our days more structured. Anyway... it's a long-ish post but...and out of order...sorry.

Outside play on St. Patricks Day

Sponge squeezing - working the grasping skills. Plus it's wet and he loved it!

A must for a fair child on sunny days! The beginning
On a walk - to the grocery store. We were multi-tasking!
After the walk

Wednessday's activity that lasted a very short time. Shapes in the shaving cream. We are headed to the park this afternoon!

Waffles with apple and almond butter dip.

Tomato sauce has made eating anything so much fun. He loves it! obviously.

Happy boy after pasta!

Climbing at the Little Gym last Saturday.
Practicing lineman drills in the waiting room instead of playing with the other kids. He loves pushing chairs, highchairs, anything...

sweet boy.

More to come as the week carries on!

1st year check up

Resting after his 2 shots
Reece is doing great and had fun at Dr. P's until the mean nurse came in to give him his shots. Seriously, why can't they have the shot nurse be nice and friendly rather than mean and crotchety?! He screamed and stopped breathing for a few seconds which, is normal but since we are slowly vaccinating, he hasn't had them in a few months but I am fairly certain that they will never get easier...his dad is slightly fearful of needles (ask him the next time you see him) so I hope that Reece does not pick up on that! The munchkin is still sleeping - 3 hours after I put him down. I did check to make sure he was breathing b/c he's out like a light.
Dr. P said he's a lean baby weighing in at 22 lbs 9 oz. which is just in the 50th%ile. He has been so active recently and doesn't like to sit and chill, to which the dr. said that I was going to have my hands full with a very busy child. yes, I know.
Height - 31.5 inches (93%)
Head - 19 inches (92%)
that's all for the yearly check-up! Oh, I had no idea that at 1 year they just stop bottles. I am rather confused why I have never read this anywhere. Not a big deal b/c he hardly drinks that much from them anyways but --- still. :) Gettin' so big!
